2nd "NEW TRENDS MEETING"

Saturday 2nd October at Piazza Duomo in Terrasini, starting at 18:00, there will be held 2nd "New Trends Meeting" organized by the Music and Culture Association.
The association explicitly refers to the extraordinary experiences of social anti-mafia that were, in the late '70s, the "music and culture club" and "OM Group", which merged later into "Radio Aut".
On the stage of Terrasini will be performing artists and ensembles that choose not to adhere to the models proposed by the music and show business and they share their "Sicilianity" and the involvement in promoting the culture of legality through their art.
At the meeting will take part: Alfio Antico, Gaspare Cucinella, Mario Crispi and Arenaria, Arie di Sicilia, Ipercussonici, Giacomo Sferlazzo, Clara Salvo, Murra, Ultravixen, Om, Collettivo Impastato, Giampiero Mazzone, Su'ddocu: Annamaria Tammaro and Margherita Ortolani, DNA Sud, Libere Note with D. Li Puma and Moffo Schimmenti.
During the evening Alfio Antico will deliver the 1st prize Enzo Barbarino in memory of the cultural operator who, in the '80s, worked to promote sicilian folk music in the area between Terrasini and Cinisi, in a time where our roots were about to lose together with the last great songwriters and performers.
The first edition of the meeting was held in 1976 on the beach Magaggiari in Cinisi. Peppino Impastato and his companions had understood what was the unifying power of music in the fight against the mafias and its social and cultural function of dissent and protest against the political system.
The 2nd meeting of Saturday, 2nd October 2010, will be held with the same awareness.
The Meeting, sponsored by the municipality of Terrasini and Assessorato Territorio e Ambiente della Regione Siciliana (Sicily Regional Territory and Environment Main Office), is almost totally funded by the Music and Culture Association that intends in this way to highlight how the will, support and assistance of the participants, are now crucial in order to continue a path that, in memory of Peppino Impastato, must remain free from the common logics of the market. A heartfelt thanks therefore to all the performing artists who, by participating in the Meeting for free, witness an important example of how it is possible to do anti-mafia and promote culture at the same time.

Associazione "Musica e Cultura"2° "RADUNO NUOVE TENDENZE"

Sabato 2 Ottobre in piazza Duomo di Terrasini, a partire dalle ore 18.00, si terrà la manifestazione 2° "Raduno Nuove Tendenze" organizzata dall'associazione Musica e Cultura.
L'associazione fa esplicito riferimento alle straordinarie esperienze di antimafia sociale che furono, sul finire degli anni '70, il "circolo musica e cultura" e il "gruppo OM", dalla cui fusione nacque in seguito "radio AUT".
Sul palco di Terrasini, si esibiranno artisti e formazioni musicali che per scelta, non aderiscono ai modelli proposti dall'industria della musica e hanno in comune tra loro la sicilianità e l'impegno nel promuovere la cultura della legalità attraverso la loro arte.
Al raduno partecipano: Alfio Antico, Gaspare Cucinella, Mario Crispi e Arenaria, Arie di Sicilia, Ipercussonici, Giacomo Sferlazzo, Clara Salvo, Murra, Ultravixen, Om, Collettivo Impastato, Giampiero Mazzone, Su'ddocu: Annamaria Tammaro e Margherita Ortolani, DNA Sud, Libere note con D. Nel corso della serata Alfio Antico consegnerà il 1°Premio Enzo Barbarino in memoria dell'operatore culturale che negli anni '80 si adoperò per promuovere la musica popolare siciliana nel territorio tra Terrasini e Cinisi, in un momento nel quale le nostre radici stavano per perdersi insieme agli ultimi grandi autori ed interpreti.
La prima edizione del raduno si svolse nel 1976 sulla spiaggia Magaggiari a Cinisi. Peppino Impastato e i suoi compagni avevano ben compreso quale fosse il potere aggregante della musica e la sua funzione sociale e culturale di dissenso e protesta nei confronti del sistema politico e nella lotta alle mafie.
Con la stessa consapevolezza si svolgerà il 2° raduno di Sabato 2 ottobre 2010.
Il Raduno, patrocinato dal comune di Terrasini e l'Assessorato Territorio e Ambiente della Regione Siciliana, è quasi totalmente finanziato dall'associazione Musica e Cultura che così intende evidenziare come la volontà, il sostegno e l'aiuto dei partecipanti, siano oggi determinanti per poter proseguire un percorso che, in memoria di Peppino Impastato, deve mantenersi svincolato da comuni logiche di mercato. Un sentito ringraziamento va quindi a tutti gli artisti ospitati che, partecipando gratuitamente al Raduno, testimoniano un importante esempio di come sia possibile fare insieme antimafia e cultura.
