The Southeast Center for Photographic Studies at Daytona State College is pleased to
present the Leonardo Maniscalchi:

Beauty & Fashion Photography Workshop from
October 22 through 24, 2008.

This workshop promises to be an experience, especially with its inclusion of body painting.
It will be structured according to Mr. Maniscalchiʼs concept of “beauty and fashion.”
Centering on intensive shooting-based photographic sessions, workshop participants will explore portraiture, glamour, and fantasy. The artistʼs “dreams and fictions” concept for image development will be the workshopʼs guiding principle.
Mr. Maniscalchi was a guest of the college in 1988, and after returning to his home in Florence, Italy, started, Click Up, a school that specialized in fashion and beauty
photography. Its success is evidenced with more that 850 articles in magazines and journals.

Come experience and be part of the world of contemporary glamour photography.

Work with live models and stylists under strobe lights in this exciting three-day hands-on
workshop.

Beauty & Portrait Photography Within Fashion Photography
• Presentation of the Workshop
• Brief notes on the biography of Leonardo Maniscalchi
• Technical introduction and overview: artificial lights, flash, materials, film, camera &
personal computer.
• Introduction to Beauty & Portrait within the Fashion photography with analog and digital
audiovisual material and thematic philosophical text by the artist.
• Beauty & Portrait Fashion in Photography
• The Make up artist, hair stylist and dress stylist; creating a look for an image of portrait,
fashion and Beauty within fashion photography
• Photographic shoots conducted by Leonardo Maniscalchi and the participants on two
photographical sets, with materials, flash and artificial light.

Southeast Museum of Photography. Open to the public.

Beauty & Fashion in Photography with Body Painting
• The Art Fashion & Beauty with Body Painting,” an audiovisual presentation by LM.
• Working with Your Staff
• The make-up artist hair stylist and dress stylist.
• How a photographic shooting is prepared for Haute Couture stylists.
• Photographic shootings in the studio; fashion photography for editorial
and publicity.
• Research and Preparation
• Sensible and emotional experiences with fashion, beauty, glamour
through the art and body painting; with notes on the body art.
• Photographic shootings conducted by Leonardo Maniscalchi and the
participants on two photographic sets, with materials, flash and artificial
lights.

Friday, October 24 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Beauty & Portrait Photography Within Fashion Photography
• Introduction, photographic shootings in the studio.
• Photography: with student photographers and models, free theme.
• Free shootings all together with free individual expressions.
• Option: Special effects, simple and fast effects created through digital
manipulation.
• Critique of the photographersʼ works.
• Concrete aspects of the professional activity.
• Preparation and editing.

The commercial studios will remain open from 5 pm - 9 pm on Wednesday and Thursday for
workshop participants.
